A Wild Ride in Suzanne Kehde’s New Book Jake 2000

Glendale, CA — October 31, 2011 — Author Suzanne Kehde has a wild imagination which she keeps politely under wraps until she puts pen to paper, at which point all bets are off. A university law lecturer and attorney who also holds a Ph.D. (English Lit) and two M.A.s (more English stuff), she somehow still manages (despite all that education) to turn out gripping stories in a variety of genres. Fasten your seat belt and prepare for non-stop adventure and a lot of laughs once you start turning the pages on Jake 2000.

Jake 2000 lives on the planet Chaos. He is the 2,000th Jake to ferry eight-year-old dead kids across the Erebus to Shades, the land of the dead. His life is pretty routine. A batch of dead kids shows up and it’s Jake’s job to get them safely offshore and across the river. Unfortunately, Jake’s side of the river is either erupting or collapsing. The sky spits fire. There are trap-spiders and Darts as big as 747s. On the river, there are giant slugs big enough to swallow Jake’s boat, and pirates out body-snatching. Two things happen that change his life. He’s chosen by the Mumming Gloria, and he meets Kate. He will have to do what no one has ever done before—get into the land of the dead and out again, alive. If he manages that, then he and Kate have only one more small thing to do—return control of the universe to the Mummings, the rightful guardians.

Suzanne has written 12 fiction books and a pile of short stories and articles, and has several honors to her name, including winner of the Wichita State University National Playwriting Contest (1989), Playboy College Fiction Writing Award (1988), Edward Moses Fiction Award (1987), Fulbright Scholar (U.K. 1985-1986), and more. She lives in Fresno with an assortment of creatures as yet unnamed in any Earth languages.

It is with great joy that I am announcing the creation of the Adventurers' Writing Club, a writing, editing and publishing group! We're making a gorgeous web site, and meanwhile, this blog will be our home base.

We've got a couple of fantastic authors and I'm very excited to be able to help disseminate their wonderful works.

As Douglas Adams said in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, "The Galaxy's a fun place. You'll need to have this fish in your ear."
